1:1 Photography Mentoring with Elise Gow – 1 Day

Elise takes one 1:1 mentoring on a case by case basis and tailors each one to suit your needs quite specifically. Every photographer is at different levels in their skill and in their business. Elise covers beginners right through to experienced photographers and whether it’s newborn or family portrait photography you specialize in, Elise can take your business to the next level.

Mentoring is broken into 3 main categories Photography, Post Production & Workflow and Business Coaching. Your mentoring experience would be consist of some or all of these topics.

The amount of time you spend with Elise will depend on how many of these areas you wish covered.

1 full day is $1400 plus travel if Elise is coming to your studio, and it’s $1100 if you learn from Elise in her studio.

You pay $400 deposit to lock in a spot and the remaining balance the week before the mentoring session take place.

NB: These 1:1 mentoring sessions are not currently available to Sunshine Coast photographers.

Newborn session:

• Setting up and equipment used
• Finding best place to shoot in your studio and getting the most out of the space you have using natural light
• Getting a baby to sleep and handling a baby safely
• How to pose baby
• Camera settings & lenses used
• What I do when a baby doesn’t want to sleep
• Styling and my advice for putting together a set up
• Using colour with confidence
• Family/parent/sibling poses
• Gaining rapport and confidence with parents
• Shooting to sell
• Adding lifestyle elements to your sessions

Outdoor shoots: Family photo sessions on location

Topics covered:

• Making the most of the natural light
• Adjusting your session accordingly to weather conditions
• Making children and adults alike, feel at ease in front of the camera
• How to achieve an unposed, natural feel whilst giving direction and being in control of the session
• Props for shooting on location and what to wear advice
• Technical details: Camera settings, equipment etc
• Getting the most variety you can out of the session
• Shooting to sell

Post production & workflow

• Downloading, backing up, culling, naming files
• Using ACR & Photoshop
• Using actions and batch processing to save time
• Giving your images the WOW factor
• Selecting & optimising images for use on Facebook and making the most out of Social Media

• Break down of your business: where you are at and where you want to be and the steps you need to implement to get yourself moving in that direction
• Making your business profitable

• Marketing and Branding your business correctly
• The advantages of In Person ordering session and my how Elise approaches it
